What i think about sociology in UCH?
The year
that i started to study sociology, the department released a new study
programme, created by teachers and students with the objective of innovate the
content and subjects. Also, one of the objective was reduce workload, but think
in how was the workload before the new study programme because the majority of
my classmates never can read all the texts that we should or sent the works in time,
it’s very difficult, so maybe this objective could be improved, but truly I think
that all the students in all carries must allege of workload. A good thing Is
that they give us all the text in pdf, so we can read in pc, cellphone or
tablet and not searc h in library and print, its more ecological.
Another
problem that I identificate is the time of entry to class, its 8:30am and I take
an hour and a half to arrive university, I’m sure that a lot of people must be
in the same situation, so if the entry time were at 9:00 a lot of student will
be beneficiated an our live quality could get better. Another not academic problem
is the cafeteria, is very small and in the faculty study hundreds of people.
Regarding
the subjects of study programme, I think is good, but I’d introduce subjects
shared with other carriers of social sciences, like anthropology, psychology
and social work, to be able to handle that contents and learn to work with
people of same-not-same discipline (in other countries are the same
discipline). Another thing that I would implement is more gender content in the
different classes, already exist a subject called “sociology of gender”, but
isn’t enough, because if they teach us a lot of class-based conflict in different
subjects, they also could teach about gender-based conflict, and give us more
books written by women. Finally, the teachers could give us works that include
use of technology like make video records, use apps, etc.
i compleatly understand that the start of classes is very early, i feel it too, i don't live close to the university eaither.
